Confirmations Analyst

Castleton Commodities International, a leading global commodity trading and investment firm, is seeking a Confirmations Analyst to join our team in Houston, TX. The Confirmations Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate generation, validation, and affirmation of physical and financial contracts across CCI's North American Power, Natural Gas, and Oil trading portfolios. The role serves as a key link between the front, middle, and back offices, ensuring trade accuracy, reducing contractual risk, and supporting a seamless trade lifecycle from execution through settlement. Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across multiple stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, issue, and affirm trade confirmations for physical and financial deals in Power, Gas, and Oil markets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Coordinate with Traders, Schedulers, Risk, Credit, and Legal teams to resolve discrepancies and validate trade terms.
  • Manage both short-form and long-form contract documentation, collaborating with Legal to finalize agreements and standardize language across counterparties.
  • Monitor and track outstanding confirmations to ensure timely execution and counterparty affirmation.

Trade & Data Reconciliation

  • Review and reconcile incoming counterparty and broker confirmations to firm records, identifying and resolving mismatches in trade terms, pricing, and volume.
  • Maintain audit trails and documentation to support trade compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Perform term deal reconciliations, complex trade amendments, and periodic control checks to ensure data integrity within ETRM systems.
  • Operational Oversight & Reporting

  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports summarizing confirmation metrics, outstanding items, and key performance indicators.
  • Track and analyze operational errors or process gaps, implementing corrective measures and sharing best practices.
  • Support regulatory reporting, compliance attestations, and internal / external audits related to confirmations activity.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities for process automation, efficiency, and risk reduction.
  • Partner with Technology and Operations teams to enhance system functionality and reduce manual touchpoints.
  • Participate in global initiatives to harmonize confirmations practices across commodities and regions.
  • Leadership, Team Oversight & Controls

  • Oversee daily confirmations workflow and queues across regions to ensure SLAs are met and backlogs are minimized.
  • Monitor and review daily control reports, KPIs, and aging dashboards; drive timely remediation of breaks, exceptions, and outstanding items.
  • Lead daily end-of-day checkouts; prioritize tasks, allocate work, and balance capacity across team members.
  • Perform quality reviews of confirmations output; coach, mentor, and develop analysts through feedback and targeted training.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex confirmations, disputes, or operational risk items; partner with Risk, Credit, Legal, and Front Office to resolve issues.
  • Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures and control documentation; support internal and external audits.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Law, or related field.
  • 10+ years' experience in a confirmations or trade support role within the energy trading sector (Power, Gas, and / or Oil).
  • Prior experience with ETRM systems (e.g., CXL, Allegro, RightAngle, or similar)
  • Strong problem-solving and numerical analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex trade data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to liaise confidently with front office and external counterparties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general data management.
