A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for this role! Since you'll be a therapist in our school, you also have the option of chosing an 11 or 12 month role. No evenings or weekends!

By joining the Strawbridge team, you will have the opportunity to work with varying profiles of students to grow your clinical knowledge. Some of the duties include : to provide school-based individual and group therapy to children and adolescents in The Strawbridge School; develop / implement Individual Education Program (IEP) goals; document progress notes, IEP reports, and other forms of documentation; conduct clinical assessments; collaborate with students, families, and external parties to support the needs of the student.

The Strawbridge School offers is an alternative school that provides small, caring classroom settings guided by certified special education teachers. Strawbridge provides the opportunity for staff to work with students in an environment with a strong sense of teamwork, and also fun & engaging opportunities (such as school incentives, field trips, etc.) to share with students. The Strawbridge School is a non-public school approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

The school serves youth with emotional, behavioral, and / or intellectual challenges in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our team addresses the unique educational needs of students who have been unable to thrive in a public-school setting. The Strawbridge School is one of several programs provided by Everstand, a national children and family-focused charity headquartered in Baltimore.

What does this job do specifically?

  • Demonstrate and practice Everstand's leadership mindset, "Choose kindness. Solve problems and learn together. Make it happen."
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy, within the scope of professional license, to children, adolescents, and their families as outlined by students' Individualized Education Program.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, as well as treatment team meetings with the educational team or residential team, and other team meetings (with external parties) as appropriate.
  • Develop goals and evaluate the student's progress for their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Learn and implement evidence-based practices selected by the organization, which may include attending on- or off-site training, participating in ongoing supervision, consultation, and / or continuing education, committing to delivery of the practice as expected by Everstand, following practice guidelines with fidelity, and engaging in fidelity monitoring.
  • Complete psychosocial intake assessments and ongoing clinical assessments that include participation by student, parents / guardians, and other parties (such as DSS worker, foster parent, group home, etc.).
  • Maintain effective working relationships with families / teams, children / youth, colleagues, consultants and community agencies, including regular communication with families / teams about student progress.
  • What experience and education do I need?

    Required Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited college or University
  • Current LGSW, LGPC, LCSW-C, LCPC, LGMFT, LCMFT, LGPAT, or LCPAT Maryland State License
  • Preferred Education and Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in providing direct social work services to children / youth and families.
  • Certification as a School Social Worker
  • Current LCSW-C or LCPC Maryland State License
