Harvard Resource Solutions is hiring a Temporary Buyer to support a manufacturing and engineering company located in Midland, MI. You will provide direct support for the Purchasing Supervisor by ensuring proper inventory level on items needed in the manufacturing process.
POSITION TYPE : Full time, Onsite (office / lab / warehouse environment). Open ended contract position
PAY : $ 25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Requirements of the Buyer :
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or other related is preferred but not required.
- Ability to comprehend and discuss technical details.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in purchasing / procurement in a manufacturing environment is needed.
- Previous experience assessing inventory levels, placing orders with suppliers, negotiating pricing, issuing and updating purchase orders, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Able to interface directly with suppliers and provide support to the internal team.
- Technical skills with an ERP system and MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook) needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Duties of the Buyer :
Responsible for the management of specific products within the supply chain by identifying and managing a base of suppliers, placing purchase orders and managing supplier performance (quality / timing).
Resolve procurement, invoice, and inventory-related issues which arise related to assigned parts.
Identify potential new suppliers to meet organization's needs by evaluating price competitiveness, quality, delivey capabilities and reputation.Manage supplier performance and capability using of metrics for quality, delivery and price.Issue purchase orders for assigned products and services, negotiate pricing and ensure supplier compliance, especially delivery dates and quantity / quality; resolve invoice discrepancies.Ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained by proactively avoiding material shortages.Discuss technical requirements with suppliers such as dimensions, tolerances, finishes and other aspects of manufacturing.Work closely with Supplier Quality to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action to minimize impact on production.Perform cross-functional ad hoc analysis and lead special projects as required.Other responsibilities supporting purchasing may be required.
