Full-time weekdays schedule : 4x9 hour shifts (0630 / 0730 - 1530 / 1630)\n\tWeekend and holiday on-call rotation required\n\tCall rotation includes 1 weekday of call per week and approximately 3 full weekends of call during contract\n\tFloat between multiple healthcare facilities including general hospital and surgery center\n\n\nRequired Certifications\n\n \n\t
ACLS, BLS, PALS (all through AHA or RQI only)\n\tNIHSS required\n\tNYS RN Licensure\n\n\nPosition Summary\n\n \n\t
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families\n\tThe Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates the care delivery throughout the patient's episode\n\tThe OR RN develops specialized skill in the area of patient admitted for medical conditions\n\tProvides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions\n\tThe Endo RN is accountable for patient family education to assist in understanding self care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing\n\tThe OR Registered Nurse is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment\n\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n \n\t
Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care\n\tAssesses patient / family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness (being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do), and analyzing data or information obtained through direct observation / assessment, technology, or health team communication\n\tCreates a developmentally and age appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of the health problems identified\n\tIn collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress\n\tAdjusts the plan based on patient response or change in condition / reprioritization of needs\n\tPromotes, advocates for and protects the health, safety and rights of the patient\n\tEncourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome\n\tTeaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice\n\tUnderstands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies\n\tMotivates the patient / family by teaching them what is needed to continue care / healing at home\n\tAssesses the patient / family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding\n\tSeeks "teachable" moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information\n\tAsks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self care process\n\tProvides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge\n\tDocuments the education provided and the patient / family response to the education\n\tSystematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice and uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery\n\tEngages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial\n\tTakes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill\n\tUses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems\n\tNursing practice reflects the importance of making a meaningful connection with patient / family\n\tSeeks to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship by being present in the moment of interaction, listening, communicating, engaging, and anticipating the patient / family needs\n\tStrives to understand what is most important to the patient / family, acknowledging that the patient and family are the central focus of all care and services\n\tEmbraces the importance of creating a Healing Environment as a key element of professional nursing practice\n\tDemonstrates skill in application of interventions including medication administration\n\n\nOccupational Considerations\n\n \n\t
