Job description10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with proven leadership in large-scale migration programs. Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform services, including GKE, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Run, and networking. Strong experience operating in AWS and leading migrations from AWS to GCP.Proficiency in migration tools and methods (e.g., Velostrata, StratoZone, Migrate for Compute Engine, Database Migration Service). Hands-on expertise with infrastructure as code and automation (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Deployment Manager). Solid understanding of application modernization, microservices architectures, and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker). Excellent communication skills and ability to lead client discussions, workshops, and technical decision making. Exposure to hybrid or multi-cloud migration strategies. Knowledge of compliance and security requirements for enterprise cloud migrations. Experience with data modernization and analytics platform migrations. Migration roadmaps are delivered with clarity, and clients trust the process. Applications and infrastructure are successfully migrated from AWS to GCP with minimal disruption. Replatformed and re-engineered workloads deliver measurable improvements in scalability, performance, and cost. Migration patterns and frameworks become reusable assets for ongoing and future programs.
Title : Google Cloud Infrastructure Architect
Duration : Remote with up to 50% travel to Chicago, IL
Term : Ongoing contract
Note : This is not a basic Google Cloud or DevOps Engineer.. please read the requirements carefully and only send candidates who are HIGH LEVEL GCP Engineers (Architect and Leads) who can work onsite in Chicago, IL.
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior and experienced Google Cloud Engineering Lead to drive the transition of applications and infrastructure from AWS to Google Cloud. This role is client-facing and requires both technical depth and leadership presence. The Engineering Lead will oversee migration execution, replatforming and re-engineering of applications, and modernization of infrastructure, ensuring a secure, efficient, and value-driven journey to Google Cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale migrations of applications, data, and infrastructure from AWS to Google Cloud.
- Design and implement replatforming and re-engineering strategies to maximize the benefits of Google Cloud services.
- Establish migration patterns, frameworks, and accelerators that ensure repeatable and scalable execution.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to align migration activities with business goals and technical priorities.
- Partner closely with operations, architecture, and security teams to ensure smooth cutover and long-term stability.
- Mentor engineering teams and embed best practices for cloud-native architectures and migration approaches.
- Provide technical leadership across discovery, assessment, planning, migration, and post-migration optimization phases.
