CLINICAL RISK MANAGER

The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible to the Director of Quality & Patient Safety, for the day-to-day clinical risk management activities for Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB). This role will include but will not be limited to investigating, managing and analysing clinical risk management data. It will also include overseeing the management of claims against the facility; Liaising with BHB General Counsel and other legal counsel and conducting risk management educational programs.
Key responsibilities include :
- Reviews and analyses all occurrence reports for Clinical Risk Management, quality of care-, regulatory and insurance concerns to identify potentially reportable incidents and reviews patient complaints that may be the source of potential legal action
- Prepares, and submits Professional Liability Reports for BHB Insurers
- Facilitates, conducts and or participate in Root cause Analysis investigations which includes assessing need for focused review by departments and or clinical head for peer review; investigation and reporting of adverse drug events and sentinel events to the appropriate parties
- Provides proactive analysis of patient safety and medical errors processes and participation in the process of disclosure for medical errors
- Collects, evaluates and distributes relevant data concerning patient injuries, aggregate data summaries, and monthly trends analyses of incidents, claims profiles and workers' compensation trends; provides aggregate analysis of risk data; maintains statistical trending of losses and other clinical risks management data
Qualifications required / Skill, Knowledge / Work Experience :
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare discipline. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred (Licensed Registered Nurse)Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferredMinimum of three years post qualification experience in a clinical health organisationInvolvement in Continuous Quality Improvement health care activitiesExperience of teaching adults with varied educational backgroundWorking collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary teamMembership in recognized Healthcare Quality and Risk Associations requiredSchedule : 35 hours per week
Salary : BP30 - $100,713.05
