Basic Function
Medical Assistants play a vital role in supporting clinical operations and maintaining high standards of patient care and satisfaction. This position ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and high-quality service delivery for patients. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, assisting with medical treatment, and serving as a key liaison between patients and providers. Reporting to the Practice Administrator, this position will join a small but mighty office of 8. Medical Assistants will have high engagement with patients and will also interact cross-functionally with others to share ideas, solve problems, and provide back-up for administrative functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations; take patient history and vital signs; collect and prepare laboratory specimens; instruct patients about medications, diet, and exercise; explain treatment procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by a provider, give injections, conduct point-of-care testing, and assist with treatment procedures.
- Prepare clinic for daily operations, inventory medical supplies regularly, ensure examination rooms are clean, and clean rooms between patients.
- Input lab / imaging results; process medication refill requests and authorizations.
- Facilitate orders / referrals to specialists or other healthcare facilities as directed by providers
- Address patient concerns and escalate issues to appropriate healthcare personnel or manager when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation; ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations regarding patient information.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits as needed; assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and coordinate with insurance providers as needed.
- Support healthcare providers and clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.
