HX5 is currently seeking a Junior System Administrator to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.
Responsibilities
- Perform system administration duties on Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) suite of applications.
- Support systems engineering, maintenance, and operations of cyber capabilities.
- Assist in troubleshooting of hardware, software, and capability of the DCO suite of applications.
- Conduct functional and connectivity testing to ensure continuing operability.
- Comply with organization systems administration standard operating procedures.
- Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.
- Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
- Manage system / server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
- Monitor and maintain system / server configuration.
- Perform repairs on faulty system / server hardware.
- Troubleshoot hardware / software interface and interoperability problems.
- Install, update, and troubleshoot systems / servers.
- Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties.

A positive attitude and willingness to expand knowledge and skill set.Ability to correct physical and technical problems that impact system / server performance.Skill in monitoring and optimizing system / server performance.Skill in recovering failed systems / servers.Skill in operating system administration.Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.Knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability.Knowledge of performance tuning tools and techniques.Knowledge of principles and methods for integrating system components.Knowledge of systems administration concepts.Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machine development and maintenance.Knowledge of organizational IT user security policies (e.g., account creation, password rules, access control).Knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.Knowledge of common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup).Knowledge of cloud computing service models SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models in private, public, and hybrid environments and the difference between on-premises and off-premises environments.Willingness to support troubleshooting for shift workers in a 24x7 operational environment and respond quickly to emergencies as needed.Willingness to support a rotating on-call schedule.Ability to multi-task and prioritize various projects and assignments in a dynamic work environment to meet scheduled or unscheduled customer requests.Salary
Salary Range : This position is expected to pay $90,000 - $115,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
Education and Experience
Must have 2 or more years of general (full-time) work experience. May be reduced with completion of advanced education.Must have 6 months or more of directly related experience.Must have a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).Must have, or obtain, an active DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Infrastructure Support certification with Continuing Education (CE) (CEH, CySA+, GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud+, CND).Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.Must be able to obtain an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.Desired Requirements
Experience with Linux system administration in a DoD environment.Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) experience.Experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) is highly desirable.Server management experience, including deployment, backups, and snapshots.Other Position Requirements
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Must be able to obtain the required level clearance by date of hire.Must have a valid Driver's License.Benefits
