Basic functions include participating in the development of a legislative package under the direction of the Senator and Chief of Staff, understanding and navigating the legislative calendar, tracking and meeting deadlines, understanding Senate rules and basic committee and floor procedures, and overseeing Legislative Aides and tracking the progress of bills, amendments, committee hearings, and the floor.
Duties include developing and managing the Member's personal legislation, preparing briefings for the Member on key legislative issues, serving as the principal substitute for the Member at legislative meetings, analyzing legislation, providing policy consultation, supervising staff, and preparing legislative progress reports. Desirable skills and knowledge include familiarity with the legislative and budget process, the ability to manage multiple projects, thrive under deadlines, and work well in a team environment. Education and qualifications include a Bachelor's degree required, at least three years of direct legislative experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Location : Sacramento, CA. Salary : $7,956.00 - $15,138.00 Monthly. Benefits include health, dental, vision, California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), 401(k) and 457 plans, and flexible spending accounts. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
