Oncology Medical Affairs Hematology Internship

At Johnson & Johnson, we believe health is everything. Our strength in healthcare innovation empowers us to build a world where complex diseases are prevented, treated, and cured, where treatments are smarter and less invasive, and solutions are personal. Through our expertise in Innovative Medicine and MedTech, we are uniquely positioned to innovate across the full spectrum of healthcare solutions today to deliver the breakthroughs of tomorrow, and profoundly impact health for humanity.

Our expertise in Innovative Medicine is informed and inspired by patients, whose insights fuel our science-based advancements. Visionaries like you work on teams that save lives by developing the medicines of tomorrow. Our Oncology team is focused on the elimination of cancer by discovering new pathways and modalities to finding treatments and cures. We lead where medicine is going and need innovators with an unwavering commitment to results. Join us in developing treatments, finding cures, and pioneering the path from lab to life while championing patients every step of the way.

The Global Oncology Internship Program at Johnson & Johnson is a comprehensive learning and professional experience at one of the world's leading health care companies. This program is designed to build a future pool of talent / candidates who may pursue and apply for other opportunities at Johnson & Johnson upon successfully completing their degree program. The internship position is a full-time opportunity expecting to last approximately 3 months (May 18 - August 14, 2026). We work on a "hybrid model" if you are NOT lab based. This means that you will be asked to report on site three times a week and can work remotely twice a week.

We offer an inclusive work culture that is open, innovative, and performance driven. As a summer intern in the Medical Affairs role, you will be a member of the Oncology Heme Learning and Development team to support identifying the Medical Affairs training needs, clinical learning strategy, including new hire onboarding, product and evidence launches (FDA approvals, label updates, and ASCO / EHA study presentations), professional learning initiatives (negotiation skills, team building), and ongoing knowledge reinforcement (self-assessment and role playing for scientific engagement). The selected candidate(s) will be assigned a mentor and will have the opportunity to contribute assigned projects within their team. This role may involve global team matrix interactions with colleagues from different disciplines.

The Oncology Medical Affairs Hematology Intern may contribute to Cross-Functional Team activities and may also collaborate with other project teams in various functional disciplines supporting various function-specific projects. Interns will be expected to present their work to their project teams, the Oncology Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and are required to present their primary research project as a poster / abstract at the annual global summer intern research symposium towards the end of the internship.

The goal of this internship program is to provide undergraduate and graduate students with experience in working in a large pharmaceutical setting and to gain understanding of the science and process of novel drug development and beyond. Students will have the opportunity to learn aspects of disease states, diagnosis, treatment, and the mechanism of action behind the emerging drugs being developed. Students will also receive training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), function-specific training, and related systems and tools.

Responsibilities may include :

  • Collaborating with internal partners (ie, medical science liaisons, medical directors, R&D, scientific communications, and compliance) to identify Medical Affairs training needs and shape the clinical learning strategy, including new hire onboarding (ie, processes and SOPs), product and evidence launches (FDA approvals, label updates, and ASCO / EHA study presentations), professional learning initiatives (negotiation skills, team building), and ongoing knowledge reinforcement (self-assessment and role playing for scientific engagement).
  • Supporting medical affairs hematology initiatives by designing, developing, and delivering instructionally sound, compliant training programs for existing and emerging oncology products / disease states (ie, acute myeloid leukemia pipeline, multiple myeloma, lymphoma) and support professional development (ie, influencing without authority, storytelling with data, insight gathering, and generative AI fluency) in alignment with medical team strategy.
