Summary
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator with a strong track record in PostgreSQL, Oracle, Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration projects. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, high availability, and backup/recovery strategies, as well as hands-on experience converting large-scale, mission-critical Oracle databases to PostgreSQL in both on-prem and cloud environments.
Your role in our mission
- Lead the migration of enterprise Oracle databases to PostgreSQL, including schema conversion, data migration, and application integration.
- Perform detailed assessment of Oracle schemas, PL/SQL code, and database features to plan equivalent PostgreSQL implementations.
- Configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL databases for performance, availability, and security.
- Implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for PostgreSQL (e.g., streaming replication, Patroni, pgpool-II).
- Develop and execute performance tuning strategies, including query optimization, indexing, and configuration adjustments.
- Manage database backup and recovery processes, ensuring RTO/RPO objectives are met.
- Collaborate with application teams to rewrite PL/SQL code into PostgreSQL-compatible functions and procedures (PL/pgSQL).
- Monitor database health, capacity, and growth; troubleshoot and resolve incidents promptly.
- Document migration plans, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
- Stay current on PostgreSQL features, tools, and migration best practices.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years of experience as a Oracle Database Administrator, including 3+ years in PostgreSQL.
- Proven, hands-on experience in end-to-end Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration for large, complex systems.
- Expertise in migration tools such as Ora2Pg, AWS SCT/DMS, EDB Migration Toolkit, or equivalent.
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, administration and SQL and procedural languages (PL/pgSQL, PL/SQL).
- Solid experience with backup/recovery tools (pgBackRest, Barman) and HA solutions.
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.

The pay range for this position is $71,100.00 - $101,600.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
