Overview
Join to apply for the Vice President, Research Systems role at Ares Management Corporation within the Application & Data Solutions (ADS) team of the Technology & Information Security organization. The ADS team oversees and manages Ares' application platforms across all business operations, supporting all pools of capital with a focus on technology strategy, project execution, and support for investment platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Research and Portfolio Monitoring platforms to drive innovation, scalability, and efficiency across business strategies
- Manage Product Managers / Business Analysts and Developers on the team; provide coaching and best practices
- Serve as a key business partner and advisor to senior business stakeholders; collaboratively develop technology roadmaps for associated business lines and pools of capital
- Identify and incorporate new solutions; drive initiatives and influence outcomes with senior partners and peers
- Deliver change improvement projects with ownership of the full project lifecycle
- Contribute to firmwide data and reporting initiatives as they relate to Research data
- Demonstrate leadership by building and developing teams focused on innovation, agile delivery, and compliance
- Assist with management of Research Systems budget and oversight of project expenditures
- Manage relationships with vendors and data providers; oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, and consulting resources
Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance requiredMaster's degree preferredExperience Required :
At least 10 years of relevant investment technology experience with leadership rolesUnderstanding of alternative investments (Direct Lending, Private Equity, Real Estate) and institutional investment lifecycle, workflows, and dataKnowledge of financial statements, KPIs, and investment analysis usageExperience leading investment applications from initiation to deployment and supportExperience with on-premises and cloud (Azure preferred) architectures emphasizing high availability, performance, and securityAbility to influence decisions and build consensus among senior leadership, stakeholders, peers, and team membersStrategy development aligned with business needs, market trends, and organizational objectivesProven people leadership; hiring, developing, and fostering talent across global teamsVendor selection, relationship management, and contract negotiationExposure to systems in the alternative asset space (e.g., iLEVEL, Allvue, Mercatus, RealPage, Pereview, MRI, DealCloud) or similarFamiliarity with programming languages (Python, Java, C#) and API design; experience with relational / non-relational databasesExperience with BI tools (Tableau or Power BI) and data lake initiatives; self-serve analyticsExposure to data analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake)General Requirements :

Compensation
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $245,000. Total compensation may include a discretionary performance-based bonus.
