The Fabrication Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's structural steel fabrication operations.
Responsibilities
• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operations of the Fabrication Shop, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
• Manage and lead a team of production supervisors, quality control inspectors, fitters, welders, machinists, and support staff.
• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize manufacturing processes and meet production targets.
• Liaise with other departments to facilitate seamless coordination across the organization.
• Monitor and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all employees.
• Maintain a fabrication schedule for all shop operations
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee development within the fabrication team.
• Collaborate with the Shop Teams and Senior Management to improve fabrication techniques and streamline production workflows.
• Implement cost-effective measures to enhance operational efficiency without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with the QC Manager and Plant QCI's on the state of the operations QA/QC and conduct regular quality control inspections to uphold high standards of product excellence.
• Read specifications and drawings to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and inventory management.
• Monitor Production Costs and assist the PM Team with Work In Process cost projections.
• Evaluate project budgets, production costs, and provide feedback to the management team
• Document and maintain correspondence between all parties to ensure a thorough and organized paper trail.
• Issue corrective action notices to employees within the fabrication operation, as required, to enforce company and/or project guidelines/policies as they relate to Safety, HR, QA/QC, Attendance and Production
Requirements
• Proven experience in a managerial role within a steel fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, equipment, and industry standards.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in project management and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and best practices.
• Effective communication skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving production goals.
• Willingness to adapt to changing industry trends and technologies.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel is required
• Knowledge and experience using scheduling software or excel schedules
• Knowledge of Tekla PowerFab is not required but a plus
• Knowledge of applicable and proper use for the following: welders, gas supplied equipment, rigging and components
• Possess at minimum the tools as required to measure, verify, and audit basic conformity standards.
Travel and Work Hours
Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license. This position is based in Cocoa Florida. Offsite travel may be needed from time to time but not a regular occurrence. The Position is required to work the same hours that the Plant's production team is working, but may be required to work additional time and/or Saturdays and Sundays if required to effectively manage the fabrication operations.
