Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health published protocols.
• Receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and timely; labels, transports, centrifuges, and aliquots specimens.
• Distributes specimens to testing sections in accordance with collection priority (e.g., STAT over Routine).
• Faxes and distributes results as appropriate.
• Maintains knowledge of and deploys policies and procedures used within the department and hospital to address patient questions and concerns.
