About the Fund and Program
The Fund for Public Health in NYC (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. In partnership with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives and collaborates with government and private sectors to accelerate demonstration projects and implement public health solutions.
About the Program
Maternal mortality is a key indicator of health; the NYC DOHMH has conducted enhanced surveillance for maternal mortality since 2001. The NYC Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC) was formed to conduct multidisciplinary reviews of pregnancy-associated deaths among NYC residents and others linked to NYC. In recent years, disparities have been observed (e.g., Black non-Hispanic women bearing a higher burden of maternal mortality).
About the Role
The Family Interviewer (Spanish-Speaking) will work part-time within BMIRH and report to the Deputy Director of the MMRC, collaborating with the MMRC Co-Chairs. The role involves developing interview materials, identifying and contacting participants, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews via telephone or video in Spanish, and submitting interview materials to the DOHMH MMRC Operations team.
