Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary

Overview :

Our client, a small but well-established South Jersey law practice, is seeking a highly organized Legal Assistant to provide direct support to the Senior Partner. This position requires a detail-driven professional who can handle dictation, document management, scheduling, and client communications while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at every step.

Responsibilities :

  • Transcribe attorney dictation and prepare accurate correspondence.
  • Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, filings, and letters.
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate court appearances.
  • File court documents electronically and maintain organized case records.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Support billing processes and general administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications :

  • 3–5 years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, or similar role.
  • Skilled in transcription / dictation software.
  • Solid understanding of court systems, procedures, and electronic filing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and document formatting.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Exposure to litigation and transactional law.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey and federal e-filing systems.
  • Salary Range and Benefits :

  • Salary range of $45,000–$55,000 (based on experience).
