Job Summary and Responsibilities

Transports patients equipment and other supplies within hospital. Completes appropriate forms of tracking transportation assignments.

Located in Phoenix AZ this position is critical to the success of St. Josephs Hospital Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health.

Essential Function

• Provides transportation Services for patients and Visitors
• Responds to all calls / assignments in a timely manner
• Assists nursing staff as needed in transfer of patient form cart wheelchair or gurney to and from bed
• Return all transport equipment (beds gurneys wheelchairs) to assigned area
• Completes appropriate form and log sheet
• Record all information as required on log sheet
• Note when call time is received pick up and drop off locations of patient and completion time of call
• Obtain signature of nurse receiving patient
• Note transportation of patient personal items
• Locates wheelchairs IV poles and gurneys to ensure availability of transportation equipment to various nursing units as directed
• Remove broken equipment from nursing units patient rooms and corridors and place in broken equipment room
• Cleaning of transportation equipment using proper cleaning chemicals and cleaning techniques
• Cleans wheelchairs IV poles carts and gurneys in between calls during slow times or as assigned by supervisor or lead
• Compliance in the appropriate pick up transport completion and documentation of non- narcotic patient medication.
