Overview
ERT is seeking a qualified full-stack web developer to support the development of a geoportal system as part of the NOAA Climate Prediction Center Drupal 10 website. The role requires a strong understanding of Drupal’s architecture, APIs, and core functionality, with proficiency in custom theme and module development, essential contributed modules, and site building. A key responsibility of this position is collaborating on the refactoring, modernization and migration of outdated code from legacy systems and applications into a content management system. The successful candidate will work closely with scientists and another web developer at the NOAA National Center for Weather & Climate Prediction in College Park, MD.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on refactoring, modernization and migration of legacy code into a content management system.
- Develop Drupal themes and modules, work with APIs and core functionality, and perform site building.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and implement best practices for accessibility and usability.
Requirements
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of content management systems, specifically Drupal 9, 10, or 11Proficiency in the maintenance and administration of Drupal content, themes, and modulesExperience with version control systems such as Git within a development to staging environment workflowAbility to produce modern responsive designs and user-friendly interfaces, ensuring Section 508 / WCAG compliance and accessibilityProven ability to research, develop or adapt designs and code to accommodate both new and existing stakeholder applicationsUSWDS experience highly desired, but not requiredGIS computation experience highly desired, but not requiredMust be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facilityEducation
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Web Development or other related field
Location
Work will be performed primarily on-site at NOAA's College Park, MD facility with some flexible work arrangements permitted.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $217,000 / year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including the location, scope, and associated responsibilities of the specific position, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education / training, and key skills.
