Berlin Heart Inc is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Biomedical Equipment Technician in Houston, TX. Reporting to Director of Technical Service, the BMET will play a crucial role in troubleshooting, performing repairs, and conducting preventative maintenance on life-sustaining medical devices. This position requires meticulous record-keeping and adherence to established procedures for the Technical Service Unit, ensuring compliance with Berlin Heart Quality System, ISO strand and FDA regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct preventative maintenance on medical devices according to established protocols.
• Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose, maintain, and repair Berlin Heart's complex electro-mechanical devices in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
• Work with manufacturers’ engineering team to understand and resolve product complaints.
• Thoroughly document all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring meticulous record-keeping in compliance with regulatory guidelines and quality management systems.
• Manage Device History Records with precision and attention to detail, guaranteeing accuracy and completeness for audit purposes and regulatory compliance.
• Execute rigorous cleaning and disinfection protocols for equipment, adhering to stringent industry standards to maintain optimal safety and hygiene levels.
• Oversee equipment and spare parts inventory meticulously, employing advanced inventory management techniques to optimize availability and minimize downtime.
• Lead and participate in advanced quality training and educational initiatives, imparting specialized knowledge and fostering continuous improvement within the technical service team.
• Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in the work environment, proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards to promote a culture of workplace wellness.
• Foster a collaborative and cohesive team dynamic through effective communication, positive reinforcement, and mutual respect, contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Undertake additional responsibilities and projects as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and versatility in addressing evolving business needs and technological advancements.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION :

Bachelor’s degree in electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited institution.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE :

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a strong understanding of electronic circuitry and troubleshooting methodologies, coupled with the ability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams of biomedical instrumentation, including pneumatic systems. Additionally, detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality, the candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, essential for effective collaboration within the technical service team and working closely with other Berlin Heart employees.

EXPERIENCE :

Pr ior experience or internships in biomedical engineering or medical device industry preferred.
