Description
As a Financial Counselor, you will be responsible for :
- Verifying accurate demographic and financial information
- Reviewing and interpreting insurance benefits
- Providing financial counseling and screening
- Handling charity applications and credit assessments
- Establishing all financial arrangements and refer appropriate cases to other agencies to assist patients with discharge / post hospital care.
- Working closely with Patient Placement, Care Coordination, Social Services, and Patient Business Services to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Ability to write concise, grammatically correct reports and correspondence
- Proficient in basic math
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook
Salary Range : $33.27- $47.77 / hourly Qualifications

Working knowledge of third-party payer relationships as well as relevant state and federal health programsWorking knowledge of third party payer and medical terminologyAbility to adapt to and implement changing registration proceduresWorking knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, and insurance contractingAbility to analyze information, problems, situations, practice or proceduresExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proper phone etiquetteBilingual English / Spanish abilities, preferredPC proficiency and basic math knowledgeStrong organizational and interpersonal skillsIndependent decision-making skills and sound judgmentAbility to adhere to departmental policies and procedures and work rulesFlexibility in working varied schedules and at a variety of locations when necessaryNote : May be subject to test on qualifying skills
