Director, Relationship Banking - Digital Asset Banking
Location : CA - San Diego, 450 B St
As a Director of Relationship Banking for Digital Asset Banking you'll lead strategic client engagement and relationship management for institutional clients operating in the digital asset ecosystem. In this role, you'll drive deposit growth, managing complex client relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while delivering exceptional service. You'll also collaborate with internal teams across Risk, Compliance, Treasury, and Operations to support onboarding, servicing, and retention of high-value clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, including crypto exchanges, custodians, OTC desks, and fintech partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for strategic accounts.
- Monitor client portfolios for performance, risk indicators, and compliance adherence. Prepare and present portfolio reviews to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Identify new opportunities within the digital asset sector to expand banking relationships. Collaborate with product teams to deliver tailored solutions for custody, settlement, and liquidity needs.
- Ensure adherence to BSA / AML, OFAC, and internal risk frameworks. Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to manage high-risk client profiles and maintain robust controls.
- Work closely with Deposit Operations, Treasury, and Technology teams to ensure seamless onboarding and operational readiness for digital asset clients.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in blockchain, payments, and digital asset banking. Provide strategic input to product development and client engagement strategies.
- Mentor and develop Relationship Managers and Analysts within the Digital Asset Banking team. Foster a culture of client-centricity and operational excellence.
What you'll need :
9+ years of related experience.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.Previous leadership experience preferred.Advanced to expert knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and / or other commercial banking products and services including digital assets.Advanced to expert knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.Advanced knowledge in managing institutional client relationships and driving deposit growth. Advanced understanding of blockchain technologies, custody solutions and payment systems.Advanced experience with Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platforms and financial Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.May require up to 50% travel.Compensation : Salary range for new hires is generally $178,495.00 - $219,336.00 for San Diego, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus / incentives earned and restricted stock.
