About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Profession : CST / ORT

Shift : Monday - Friday

Hours per Shift : 6 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM

Experience : Minimum of 2 years recent experience

License : NBSTSA certification required

Certifications : BLS certification through the American Heart Association required

Must-Have :

• 2 years recent experience in general surgery, DaVinci preferred, orthopedic, robotic knee replacement, trauma, and neuro
• On-call requirement : one day a week and one weekend a month

Description :

A surgical technologist is present within the operating room.

The technologist provides assistance to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.

Key responsibilities include handing necessary instruments to the surgeon to facilitate surgery.

It is important for the technologist to anticipate which devices the surgeon will use to avoid delays.

Certain equipment may also be monitored, such as machinery related to the observance of vital signs.

The technologist is responsible for setting up and maintaining the surgical field.

Collaboration with nurses and doctors is essential in assisting where required.

The role includes assembling, transporting, and retrieving surgical equipment, ensuring all pieces leave the room.

The technologist must keep all needed surgical equipment ready, such as sterile linens, saline, lights, and suction machines.

Inspection, maintenance, decontamination, and repair of surgical equipment are also required.

Maintaining up-to-date inventory records is essential.

Pre- and post-surgery patient care is part of the role, including shaving, transporting, and applying dressings.
