Certified Hospital Coding Specialist

A company is looking for a Hospital Coding Specialist III (Remote).

Key Responsibilities

Accurately code inpatient conditions and procedures using ICD guidelines and assign appropriate MS-DRG or APR-DRG

Review medical records to identify and assign relevant codes, including principal diagnoses and complications

Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists and assist in DRG validation requests

Required Qualifications

AHIMA or AAPC approved Medical Coding Diploma or Health Information Management Degree

Minimum of three years of progressive inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility

Active credential of CCS, RHIT, or RHIA through AHIMA or AAPC at the time of hire

Experience with electronic health record systems is preferred

Academic or level I or II trauma experience is a plus
