Summary of Responsibilities
Responsible for the proper setup of molds, troubleshooting, and adjusting the injection molding process to ensure efficient and consistent production of high-quality parts. Utilizes advanced processing techniques, machinery, and equipment to maintain optimal manufacturing performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review setup sheets, quality instructions, and work orders to confirm job specifications and production standards.
Prepare raw materials for processing by setting up and cleaning dryers, loaders, grinders, and additive feeders.
Position, align, and secure molds to injection molding machines; connect waterlines, heaters, temperature controllers, and hydraulics according to setup instructions.
Start machines, produce initial samples, and collaborate with Quality Assurance to verify product compliance with customer specifications.
Document startup processes in setup notebooks and record daily machine cycle times.
Troubleshoot and adjust the injection molding process, including injection pressure, water temperatures, and melt temperatures, using digital and manual controls.
Monitor raw material quality and moisture levels to ensure consistent product standards.
Set up auxiliary equipment such as drill presses, fixtures, work tables, welders, hot stampers, and additive feeders.
Train and assist machine operators in proper handling techniques and ergonomically correct workstation setups.
Tear down setups and store tools and equipment in designated areas after use.
Report machinery or mold repair needs to maintenance or toolroom personnel and / or your immediate supervisor.
Expand and apply knowledge of materials, additives, and dyes to enhance processing efficiency.
Contribute to achieving production goals through active participation in daily operations.
Assist with weighing, counting, labeling, inventory, packaging, and storage of finished goods.
Prepare and apply packaging labels and maintain accurate run files.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Support and implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other statistical quality methods.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and total productivity by offering process improvement suggestions and assisting in implementation.
Apply knowledge of the four plastic variables and gate freeze principles to optimize production outcomes.
