Job Brief Conducts the safe operation of company vehicles and equipment in accordance with local, State, and Federal laws, and within the guidelines set forth by CP Associations / CPT Policy and procedure.

$19.05-$19.05 POSITION DUTIES:
- Responsible for providing safe, comfortable, and punctual transportation for all passengers and supplies.
- Communicate with consumers, program personnel, parents, and caregivers in a professional manner that is sensitive and respectful to consumers' disabilities.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking the vehicle.
- Secure all passengers in vehicles using seat belts and/or wheelchair-securing equipment.
- Properly operate any equipment used in or during transport, such as hydraulic lifts, ramps, tie-downs, seat belts, safety flares, fire extinguishers, 2-way radios, beepers, etc.
- Responsible for handling all special and emergency requests in addition to regularly assigned runs, including non-individual related transportation.
- Responsible for pre-trip and post-trip inspections of all assigned vehicles. Properly maintain the vehicle while in your possession.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Responsible for submitting all required documentation.
- Assist the driver-aide and/or intervene independently in situations where consumer behaviors create a hazardous or unhealthy situation for themselves or other passengers.
- Examples of situations include head-banging, eating foreign objects, undressing, scratching, or hitting others. Report all incidents that occur on the bus using designated forms.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Compliance with NYSDMV Traffic and Safety Laws.
- Carry a company I.D. card and a valid NYS Driver's License at all times while on duty.
- A valid NY Driver's License with a minimum of three (3) years' driving experience.
- Acceptable driving abstract, containing no more than a combination of two (2) moving violations or accidents within the last three years.
- Must possess basic map-reading skills and a working knowledge of the five boroughs of NYC
- Be aware of and comply with state and local rules and regulations governing commercial drivers.
- Be aware of safety and evacuation plans for all equipment used.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.
