Job Details

  • Provide quality mental health care to incarcerated adult men on Rikers Island.
  • Conduct mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow-up care.
  • Determine and coordinate disposition of patients for appropriate level of mental health care.
  • Coordinate with Reentry Social Workers for discharge planning services.
  • Complete required statistical reports and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Department of Correction to ensure access to patients, proper housing, and treatment disposition.
  • Coordinate patient care with other institutional programs.
  • Develop and lead group treatment on mental health observation units and other assigned units.
  • Participate in clinical supervision weekly with Clinical Supervisor.
  • Participate in mental health and medical rounds as assigned.
  • Participate in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving or considered for mental health treatment.
  • May conduct psychological testing as assigned.
  • May supervise social work interns or student volunteers as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Unit Chief, Assistant Unit Chief, and Clinical Supervisor.
