Building Superintendent

Job Description

Manage the maintenance and operations of affordable housing properties in Brooklyn. Supervise and coordinate the work of handymen, porters, and other building staff. Conduct regular inspections to ensure building safety and compliance with regulations. Address tenant concerns and resolve maintenance issues promptly and effectively. Oversee repairs, renovations, and general upkeep of the properties. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and building operations. Ensure all building systems, such as HVAC and plumbing, are functioning efficiently. Collaborate with external contractors and vendors as needed for specialized services.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Building Superintendent should have :

  • Previous experience as a building superintendent or live-in resident manager.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, repairs, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and guide a team of building staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to address tenant and property issues effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with contractors and vendors.
  • Familiarity with affordable housing operations and requirements.
  • General knowledge of Building and Construction Codes.
