Position Summary :
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide treatment for patients by assessing their needs and applying effective therapies to restore function. Engage in an interdisciplinary approach for education and clinical training of students.
Education / Certification :
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.Current Connecticut Speech Language Pathology license.Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.Key Competencies :
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.Proficient in Windows-based applications (Word, Outlook, Excel) for departmental tasks.Reliable transportation for travel between multiple work sites is mandatory.Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Assess patients per departmental standards.Customize evaluations based on patients' symptoms and activity levels, establishing measurable goals.Implement effective therapeutic techniques to treat patients.Utilize physical agents and manual techniques to achieve treatment goals.Apply strategies to support normal speech and language functions.Guide patients and families in home exercise programs to enhance independent activities.Identify when patients have reached their treatment potential and recommend discharge as appropriate.Document all treatments according to insurance guidelines and departmental policies.Facilitate interdepartmental communication and liaise with referring physicians regarding patient care.Accurately complete daily charge submissions.Uphold the ethical standards set by ASHA and our facility.Adopt safe body mechanics and practices to prevent injuries.Supervise at least one student from an affiliated program annually.Engage in continuing education to enhance treatment methodologies.Participate in at least one departmental or community in-service annually.
