What does it mean to be a Data Developer II at GLS?
The Data Developer II is responsible for building fast, reliable, transparent, and scalable business-focused information systems. This position designs and builds standardized ETL processes used to populate the data warehouse and feed data to external partners. The position also leverages data query tools to help present data in various data visualization tools. The position consults architects, analysts, and stakeholders toward the efficient and effective use of SQL to perform their analytic and Business Intelligence functions.
How will you drive value within the organization as a Data Developer II?
- Design, build, enhance, and maintain fault tolerant batch based and real-time ETL processes to make new and existing data sources readily available to analysts, applications, and external business partners
- Design and build data warehouses / data lakes / data marts to provide easy access to structured and semi-structured data for analysts / data scientists
- Design, build, enhance, and maintain reliable and performant batch and real-time interactive PowerBI dashboards and SSRS reports working from specification documents and / or direct interaction with business users
- Automate and optimize ad-hoc reports, manual data processes, and user queries, through data research and understanding
- Set-up internal and external secure data exchanges using industry standard encryption techniques
- Implement data security measures to protect PII and other sensitive information
- Integrate processes and tools to monitor and improve data quality and system stability as prescribed by the data governance team
- Review and provide feedback to other developers with an emphasis on efficiency, quality, and maintainability
- Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
- Perform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management
What should you already know to be successful as a Data Developer II?
Minimum of bachelor’s degree requiredMinimum of two (2) years’ experience in either ETL, BI (building charts and graphs), or Statistical Analytics fields requiredMust be proficient in SQL including joins, inserts, updates, deletes, conditional logic, subqueries, temp tables, and complex data transformation functionsKnowledge of relational database management systems and data warehouse system requiredExperience reviewing datasets for data quality requiredExperience with programming languages like Python requiredExperience with unstructured or semi-structured data (ex. XML, JSON) preferredExperience with data integration tools like Airflow or Prefect preferredExperience with different data security algorithm preferredIntrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectivenessStrong verbal and written communication skillsTeam player that can adapt in a fast pace and changing environmentCommitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competenciesEmployment Requirements :
