Overview

The Sr. Test Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of automated UI and API testing frameworks and test assets. This role will collaborate with Architecture, Business Users, Development and QA Engineers to ensure that all aspects of the applications have proper testing coverage and overall system reliability, performance, and quality.

Deliver effective and efficient complex technical solutions and tools by meeting key project milestones and overall project deliverables on-time and adhering to development and quality standards.


Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate with architecture and understands benefits of standards, best practices, and principles from both a technology and process perspective.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to different audiences (technical and non-technical) in both a formal and non-formal setting.
  • Accountable for supporting the effective and timely completion of UI, API and/or Stress/Performance automation test activities performed on multiple projects. Including driving tasks and milestones to complete within the timeframes of a well-defined project plan and/or sprint that includes planning, design, build and execution tasks, while providing guidance to resolve problems as issues arise.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current test automation process, procedures, and best practices to ensure that all QA work is being performed accordingly. Ability to think outside the box and adjust to IT and business needs collaboratively in order to meet project objectives.
  • Understands and participates in waterfall, agile, CI/CD processes.
  • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude Estimates (ROMs) and forecast resource needs for automation projects with ROI.
  • Establish and maintain metrics which measure resource productivity, test progress and QA effectiveness. Provide QA input into root cause analysis and conduct lessons learned sessions with IT/BSU/QA following each release.
  • Identify potential improvements, best practices, and efficiency to test automation process, implement and/or communicate solutions.
  • Demonstrates ability to design and implement highly complex, multi-tier solutions using OO Principles and modern design patterns. Demonstrates a strong understanding of the business and business processes or the ability to quickly learn and understand for purposes of delivering solutions.
  • Actively Coaches/mentors less experienced test automation engineers.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Experienced with C#, Java, .NET, SQL or other software languages. Experienced with both UI and Rest API automation. Knowledge of mobile automation. Knowledge of Performance Testing Tools a Plus. Experienced with Object-Oriented Design and Patterns. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and time management skills. Experienced in working with AGILE, DevOps CI/CD process administration methodology. Knowledge of different test methods/tools such as MS Test, TestNG, JUnit/NUnit, GIT, Selenium WebDriver, and so forth. Ability to solve complex multi-tier issues independently. Knowledge of current trends in automation and ability to quickly pick up and learn new technologies and concepts independently, e.g., AI, ML, IoT,. Effective communication to convey testing results and any implications to business leadership and IT delivery teams. Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration with Architects, Business Users and Developers. Experienced in managing onshore/offshore vendor teams. Ability to communicate complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical audience.


Education and Experience

  • College Degree preferred in Computer Science, Business, or related field. Minimum 10+ years of hands-on Software Testing, Development and/or Test Management experience, including experience in advanced test automation strategies. Experience with BDD and TDD a plus. Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure cloud testing platforms a plus. Knowledge of SDLC and how the testing SDLC is incorporated throughout. Ability to work independently in a fast paced, client focused, dynamic environment. Proven ability to scale complex testing approaches to meet demand without compromising quality. Strong time management skills, including ability to execute and prioritize a number of tasks simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.


Pay Range

USD $123,000.00 - USD $157,000.00 /Yr.
