Veterans Congressional Fellowship Program Aide

Summary

This exciting position is exclusively for Veterans, Gold Star family members, and Active-duty spouses who wish to embark on a rewarding two-year paid Fellowship in the U.S. House of Representatives. Selected Fellows will have the unique opportunity to work alongside a Member of Congress or another House officer as part of a dynamic office team.

Duties

The Veterans Congressional Fellowship Program aims to create valuable employment opportunities within the U.S. House of Representatives for Veterans, Gold Star families, and Active-Duty spouses. These roles will provide Aides with essential experience and exposure to expand their career prospects. Fellows may be assigned to Members, Committees, or House Officers, serving in Washington, DC, or at district offices across the nation. This is a full-time, paid position for a duration of two years.

The specific duties may vary based on the office's requirements and could include :

• Acting as a constituent services representative;
• Assisting local constituents in resolving issues with federal agencies;
• Serving as a liaison to local Veterans Service Organizations;
• Attending local events and meetings on behalf of the Member of Congress;
• Engaging in legislative work.

NOTE : Specific office duties will be discussed during the interview process.

Conditions of Employment : Adherence to U.S. House of Representatives guidelines is a requirement.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess excellent detail orientation, organization skills, and strong computer proficiency. The ability to work independently under pressure and handle sensitive information discreetly is essential. The role requires managing multiple tasks, ensuring professionalism and courtesy throughout. A High School diploma is required along with effective verbal and written communication skills.
