Payroll Specialist

Pay Rate : $20 / hr

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a fast-paced, customer service-focused payroll team. This role offers high visibility and daily interaction with employees and managers across the organization. The ideal candidate will operate with professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to accurate payroll delivery. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in payroll operations while directly impacting the employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Process U.S. and Canadian payroll accurately and on schedule

Research discrepancies and resolve payroll processing errors

Exercise sound judgment to ensure compliance while maintaining excellent customer service

Communicate professionally with leadership and employees to support accurate payroll processes

Identify opportunities for process and system improvements

Complete and reconcile payroll documentation with accuracy and timeliness

Prepare forms such as 941, W-2, T4, and other payroll-related tax documentation

Maintain secure and compliant employee data

Ensure documentation of processes, SOPs, and manuals is current

Provide timely guidance and support to employees regarding payroll inquiries

Serve as a backup processor for U.S. and Canadian non-exempt payroll

Collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional internal service

Participate in special projects as needed to support key metrics and improvements

Qualifications

3+ years of general office or accounting experience (payroll experience preferred)

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience

Strong understanding of accounting and mathematical principles

High attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Goal-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Confident in making quick, well-reasoned decisions

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience with enterprise or payroll systems a plus

Additional Details

May require long periods of sitting and tasks such as filing, phone work, and computer use
