Position Overview

Accutemp Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to be a part of our finance team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's financial position.
  • Reviews financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation to ensure all accounts are accurately represented.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
  • Record journal entries for various transactions to maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and interpret data for management review.
  • Support financial auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance teams to analyze financial performance and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Coordinates accounting matters across multiple departments.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software packages such as Sage, Great Plains, or Computer Ease
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus

    Experience with Percentage of Completion and Revenue Recognition is a plus

  • Strong understanding of debits and credits, as well as double-entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Hands-on experience with detailed processing of payroll, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable
  • Solid understanding of journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting
  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis is essential.
  • Understanding of internal controls regarding vendor invoicing and bank disbursements
  • Ability to interpret financial reports accurately and provide insights based on findings.
  • Knowledge of journal entries, accounts payable processes, and financial auditing practices is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with corporate finance concepts will be beneficial for this role.
  • Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 5 or more years Accounting experience
  • Construction or HVAC industry experience is a plus

  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of latitude
