Job Title : Certified Pharmacy Technician
Location : Columbia, MD
Contract : 3-months contract with possible extension
Shift : 3rd Shift -Starts around 09 : 00 PM–10 : 00 PM. Open to 4-day, 10-hour shifts if needed (Monday to Friday – Overtime work needed)
Hours Per week : 40 hours per week
Pay Rate : as per expectations and experience
Responsibilities :
- Fills daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assists in processing returned drugs and recycle / dispose per procedure.
- Assist in prepacking frequently ordered medications, label and store, as needed during low volume times
- Packages materials and products manually.
- Pull / pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas (prepack racks).
- Apply labels to blister cards and then scans product for accuracy check.
- Alerts pharmacist on duty of any medication / product that is not scanning properly.
- Maintains designated workstation areas and replenishes all stock supplies needed.
- Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPPA.
- Overtime, holidays and weekends may be required and / or expected.
- Complies with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
- Picking, labeling, scanning and otherwise preparing the finished prescription for final verification by a pharmacist.
- Other duties as assigned.
Team Composition : Collaborative team environment with pharmacists, technicians, and clerks working together to ensure timely prescription fulfillment.
Physical Demands :
Visual acuity to see and read fine prints.Must be able to hear normal voice sounds.May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day.Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.Ideal Candidate Background : Prior experience in a pharmacy setting (retail or long-term care preferred).
Minimum (Required) :
High School diploma or equivalent.Ability to work at a moderate speed.Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Possess and Maintain a Clear and Active MD Pharmacy Technician License issued by MD Board of Pharmacy.Nice-to-Have Skills : Pharmacy technician with experience in a high-volume retail environment.
Licensing Requirements : Must be registered with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy (MDBOP).
