We require :
Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion from an accredited healthcare training programHigh school diploma or GEDWe also value :
Experience performing venipuncture and administering injections or vaccinesExperience using electronic medical recordsPhlebotomy certificationBasic Life Support CertificationPublic Health or Community Health Worker certification from an accredited college or currently enrolled in a Public Health or Community Health Worker program and eligible to receive a certification within six months of hireBilingual in Spanish and EnglishJob Contributions :
Provides direct patient care, including patient data collection, specimen collection, communicable diseaseProvides Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) and Directly Observed Preventive Therapy (DOPT) medications to patients in the clinic, through video, or delivers medication to patients home, job, school, etc., and notifies the medical personnel of any patient complaints or problemsCollects specimens such as blood, urine, sputum, etc., from patients receiving care from one or more of the clinical programs of the divisionDocuments patient and family encounters in the prescribed medical records or encounter / reporting formPerforms certain medical procedures (i.e., tuberculin skin testing, etc.) under the direction of the medical director of the divisionGathers patient demographics and medical information to be used by the physician to determine the individual's prescribed treatment regimenAssists medical personnel in the clinic with collecting specimens as ordered and prepping patients for the physician to examineParticipates in teaching and educating patients and families about communicable or chronic medical conditions affecting their healthTracks and locates patients or contacts throughout Maricopa County who suffer from or were exposed to a communicable diseaseWorking Conditions :
The work location will vary between a clinical setting and home visits in diverse communitiesThe clinical environment involves extended periods of standing, walking, reaching, and crouching with potential exposure to biohazard materials such as bodily specimens (e.g., blood, urine, oral fluid)Will be required to drive to various locations within Maricopa County in a personal vehicle in all weather conditionsAbility to lift, carry, push, and pull 20 lbsAbility to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergencyMust possess or have the ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid Certification by the time of hireMust complete the OSHA / Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure and Defensive Driving training within three months of hireWithin one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and / or a Tuberculosis testSelection Procedure :
