implements, manages and monitors safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures that meet ISO14001, OSHA, NFPA, DOT, ADEM, EPA and other applicable requirements. Evaluates the organization’s procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. This position ensures the organization complies with all current safety and environmental regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures as well as respond appropriately to protect the environment as well as collects data and reports on all safety / environmental incidents / events and assist in corrective actions as needed.
Duties / Responsibilities :
- Participates in the development and implementation of safety programs such as lockout / tagout, confined space entry, fire protection, PSM and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
- Participates in the development and implementation of site Environmental Programs such as ISO14001 and ensures compliance.
- Advises employees regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of employees and well as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies including OSHA and the EPA
- Performs hazard analyses and recommends mitigation procedures
- Conducts routine and follow-up environmental, health, safety and hazard inspections in the plant
- Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations for improvement
- Collects and analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendation for correcting unsafe conditions and actions
- Provides safety / environmental training to all employees and contractors
- Participates in the Emergency Response Teams
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Abilities :
