Job Description
The Manager, Chemistry Lab will oversee the group administration, training, operation, and maintenance of equipment and methods in the Thermal Physical Microscopy (TPM) lab. They will schedule instrument and task time for all TPM equipment and tasks and supervise project tasks utilizing the applicable testing methods.
- Minimize downtime for staff and lab equipment
- Review and approve lab notebook pages and data on time per GMP requirements
- Report the results of the tasks for the project managers to include in the project reports. This includes method details to express what was done, the observations, the results, and applicable figures, tables, and analysis
- Perform and / or supervise the training of personnel in TPM techniques utilizing QualTrax workflows
- Supervise maintenance and repairs of the TPM equipment and maintain records of these activities per GMP requirements.
- Supervise method development and validation of methods including the production of protocols, reports, procedures, and associated tests, and delegate these tasks to co-workers.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with project managers regarding the status and prioritization of TPM tasks
- Communicate regularly with technicians to discuss prioritization of tasks and assignment of personnel to specific tasks
- Schedule and effectively utilize technicians from other laboratories in order to maintain cross-training and maximize laboratory output
- Provide input to quoting personnel regarding technical requirements, time and materials estimates, and timelines
- Approve TPM data as needed. Train to approve data from all methods
- Develop and grow group technicians with the intention of targeting their growth toward their strengths while still working to improve demonstrated weaknesses
- Supervise the Quality Control activities in the laboratory
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Required :
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, polymer science or a related field7+ years' experience in an applicable lab, working in an ISO / IEC 17025 and / or cGMP environmentPreferred :
2+ years of supervisory experienceOR equivalent combination of education and experience2-5 years of experience preferably in polymer related field supporting cGMP operationsExperience with the following test / equipment types :
DSCTGAMechanical TestingSEM-EDSDMA / RheologyKnowledge / Skills / Abilities :
