Join Our Team as a Food Service Assistant!

As a Food Service Assistant , you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality meals that align with our mission. You’ll work closely with our Food Service Coordinator to ensure that every child receives nutritious food in a safe and welcoming environment.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Food Service Assistant, you will :
- Collaborate with the Food Service Coordinator to prepare delicious meals for our facility.
- Set the right temperatures on equipment to ensure food safety and quality.
- Package food items with care and attention to detail.
- Participate in meetings to discuss menu planning, catering, and food service techniques.
- Complete dining room checklists and track waste to enhance our service.
- Maintain cleanliness through dishwashing and sanitation tasks.
- Manage trash removal from kitchen and service areas.
- Adhere to HACCP / Food Safety procedures to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Distribute snacks to children at designated times.
- Ensure dietary needs and allergies are considered when preparing food.
- Conduct safety checks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Set up food for catered events and assist with loading / unloading catering vans.
- Report maintenance concerns and prepare documentation for food safety programs.
- Engage positively with children and faculty, addressing questions and concerns.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have :
A High School Diploma or GED.Prior food service experience or knowledge of various food products.First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.A valid NSF ServSafe Certification or the willingness to obtain one within six months of hire.Strong customer service skills and the ability to respond to inquiries effectively.Excellent organizational and time management skills.A responsible and enthusiastic attitude, with a commitment to our mission.The ability to identify problems proactively and implement solutions.A willingness to accept feedback and be held accountable.A commitment to the values of CHS and MHS, serving as a role model for children.U.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks.Working Conditions and Benefits
