Responsibilities
The Enhanced Capabilities of Subcritical Experiments directorate is looking for a strong leader with managerial and diagnostic fielding experience to manage a team of technicians, scientists, and engineers who design, develop, characterize, and field x-ray generating pulsed power machines on high stakes weapons physics experiments conducted at PULSE, located at the Nevada National Security Site. The selected candidate will report primarily to NLV and the NNSS as the Scorpius Maintenance and Operations Manager within the ECSE organization to manage assembly and integration testing of the Scorpius linear induction accelerator, along with final installation, operations, and maintenance of the overall machine in direct support of our SCE mission to ensure the safety, security, and reliability of our nation's nuclear weapon stockpile.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 14 years of related and progressively responsible experience. Demonstrated skill to plan, organize, lead, and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful completion. Documented experience and proven ability to effectively monitor project progress and initiate actions to ensure milestones and schedules are met and work is performed within budget. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Must possess interpersonal communication skills to promote an open and informal communication environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work, manage multiple tasks and changing priorities, mediate conflict and apply leadership concepts and techniques. Demonstrated skill to establish and maintain strong and effective customer relations and to anticipate change and adjust promptly and effectively. The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). Area 06 is located in the forward areas of the NNSS. Work at remote locations such as but not limited to the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada is required in support of these functions. Work schedule for this position will be 4 / 10s, Monday Thursday (subject to change). Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Must possess a valid driver's license. MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment / education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
