Job description

Overview

The Data Scientist is responsible for the collection, management, and analysis of internal data to support modeling and collections strategies across all revenue channels. The Data Scientist is also responsible for the score-based valuation of existing collections portfolios at all levels of aggregation and / or the development of credit scores to support valuation and collections activities; collaborates with group analysts as they specify and validate collections strategies, maintain collections forecasts, and revise and improve our predictive models. This position works with partners in Marketing, Acquisitions, and Operations to aid in the development and implementation of score-based and logic-based collections practices. This role is equally comfortable discussing the academic merits of a statistical and advanced machine learning approaches or the ways in which a forecasting model will impact a business channel\'s revenue and cost expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Works with partners in Operations to aid in the development and implementation of score-based and logic-based collections practices.
  • Works closely with Managers during the creation and validation of valuation products.
  • Responsible for the collection, management, and analysis of internal data to support modeling and collections strategies.
  • Implements, tracks, and validates score-based collections strategies.
  • Facilitates the use of Data Science methodologies throughout the servicing operation.

Minimum Requirements

Education : Bachelor\'s

Field of Study : Statistics, Engineering, or qualitative science

Experience : 2+ years of Data Scientist or related experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes :

  • Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in MS Office and other systems
  • Extensive understanding of relevant knowledge
  • Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency of the following
  • Proficiency with base SAS and Python or R
  • Expertise with formal statistical methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of some or all the following :

  • Logit models
  • Generalized linear models
  • Categorical data analyses
  • ANOVA and regression
  • ML packages, cloud computing
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Education : Master\'s or Advanced

    Field of Study : Statistics, Engineering or a quantitative science

    Experience : Additional experience that would help; quantify where possible

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes :

  • Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in MS Office and other systems
  • Extensive understanding of relevant knowledge
  • Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency
  • Proficiency with base Python or R
  • Expertise with formal statistical methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of some or all the following :

  • Logit models
  • Generalized linear models
  • Categorical data analyses
  • ANOVA and regression
  • ML packages, cloud computing
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Starting Compensation : Annual Salary : $82,500.00 - $107,199.00 (Amount based on office location, relevant experience, skills, and competencies)
