WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join the Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) group as part of the Performance Improvement Practice. Over the past two decades, Bain has formalized industry and capability areas, internally known as “Practices,” integral to how Bain wins and delivers results to its clients. A practice is considered a business unit of Bain. The primary role of the Practice is to drive commercial growth, build and deepen Bain’s expertise, and continually innovate to ensure Bain is best positioned to solve clients’ most pressing challenges. The Director of Product Management is part of the leadership team of the Accelerated Performance Transformation Solution and leads a cross‑functional team in building AI / tech products, collaborating closely with Vector, the Core Innovation Team, among others.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your core responsibilities will include :
AI / tech strategy and leadership
- Own the outcome‑based roadmap for AI / tech products in the portfolio – grounded in client / user needs, technical constraints, and future‑back vision
- Stay on top of industry and technology trends and the competitor ecosystem, balancing what’s possible with what serves the Solution vision and maintaining a PoV on build / buy / partner
- Role model continuous AI / tech innovation by leading discovery efforts to test hypotheses, validating what’s valuable for clients / users, and turning Bain IP and insights into tangible products and client‑facing offerings
- Establish robust feedback mechanisms to continuously capture insights from client teams, case teams, and users – translating learnings into actionable enhancements to the product strategy, roadmap, and feature prioritization
- Define and execute quarterly objectives and key results, continuously measuring and reporting on progress and direct decisions on the product backlog, positioning, budgeting, pricing, and go‑to‑market strategy
Delivery and execution
Drive AI / tech innovation throughout the product lifecycle :
Ideate + discover with internal stakeholders, potential clients and usersTest + learn with Lighthouse clients (leveraging insights to generate IP and data assets)Scale successful innovations to drive consulting revenue and client outcomesEvolve to stay differentiated and market competitiveMeasure + collect continuous feedback internally and externallyDeliver cross‑product strategic initiatives, managing interdependencies, and ensuring modularity, shared approaches and data – reporting progress and outcomes to senior leadershipDraft business plans that demonstrate compelling value proposition and ROI to secure internal fundingEnsure consistency with firmwide best practices and policies related to data governance and infrastructureLead demos and establish credibility with internal stakeholdersAdvisory and collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Global Solution Leader to :
Develop evergreen 3‑year Solution strategy and plan, including supporting technical roadmapMake build / buy / partner decisionsDeliver offerings that clients value and that differentiate Bain in the marketDrive consulting revenue and growth for the Solution and PracticeShare and leverage best practices (process, data, tools, and otherwise) across Bain, avoiding siloed problem solvingABOUT YOU
AI product management experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, technology, or a relevant field4-6 years of product management experience, ideally dealing with ERP and other operational data & developing advanced analytics productsProven ability to set and guide medium- and long‑term technology direction – including high‑level decisions on build / buy / partner, vendor selection, and architectural standards – ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency (e.g., FinOps, data governance, DR) across AI and analytics productsDemonstrated experience working with diverse technology stacks and data architectures – e.g., cloud‑native environments (AWS, Azure), relational and NoSQL databases (such as Snowflake or PostgreSQL), and API‑based integration frameworks – with hands‑on ability to work with analytical or scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) and translate technical trade‑offs into product and business implicationsDeep product intuition paired with a bias for validation and iterationExperience building products related to the Performance Improvement PracticeAbility to clearly translate technical concepts, priorities, trade‑offs for non‑technical audiencesStrong storytelling skills : you can rally a team, align stakeholders, and inspire usersExperience building with LLMs or other AI toolsAdditionalskills and experience

Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, 401(k) plan with an annual employer contribution based on years of service, and Bain’s best‑in‑class benefits package.

In Texas, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $182,000 and $219,500.In Boston, Washington DC and Washington State, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $199,500 and $240,500.In Atlanta, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $173,500 and $209,000.In Chicago, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $191,000 and $230,000.In Los Angeles, CA, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $199,500 and $240,500.In New York City, San Francisco and Silicon Valley CA, the good‑faith, reasonable annualized full‑time salary range for this role is between $217,000 and $261,500.Placement within each range will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, certifications, training, and skill level.
