American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active IA or compact RN license and strong titration skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital Progressive Care Unit (Stepdown)Unit consists of 22 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 4Patient population includes heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, and stroke casesRNs are required to titrate drips such as cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerinRNs must read and interpret their own telemetry stripsCPAP equipment is used within the unitCharge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignmentNurse aids / patient care techs available with a ratio of 1 : 10Uses Epic EMR; experience preferredCyclic scheduling with 12-hour day shifts (0630-1900)Every other weekend and one major plus one minor holiday requiredFloating to ICU required if appropriate and experiencedFast-paced environment with frequent admissions and dischargesOrientation includes a 12-hour shift in the department and a pass / fail exam on skills learnedTeam-based approach with strong emphasis on a positive attitude and collaborationMust be prepared to float to ICU if qualifiedHoliday coverage for one major and one minor holiday is expectedRTO must be declared up front; no additional or post-submission RTO will be approvedCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active IA or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a similar settingCurrent certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSSDriver’s license required to confirm address and compliance with 50-mile radius ruleMust have two professional references : one supervisor from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsMust pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areasPrevious full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year will disqualify candidates\n Benefits\n
