Summary

The Youth Supervision Coordinator (YSC) is responsible for overseeing the supervision of children in custody who are awaiting placement. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of youth aged 3-17, particularly those with developmental disabilities, behavioral health challenges, or a history of aggressive behaviors. The YSC will manage a team of Youth Supervision Paraprofessionals (YSPs) and ensure that all staff meet necessary training and experience standards while providing high-quality support to the youth.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervision Oversight : Provide direct supervision of youth in various settings, including County offices, Crossway Church, and a home in Gaston County.
• Staff Management : Ensure that all Youth Supervision Paraprofessionals meet background check requirements and fulfill the minimum training and experience qualifications.
• Performance Monitoring : Conduct regular assessments of staff performance, providing guidance and constructive feedback to ensure compliance with best practices.
• Crisis Management : Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention strategies to effectively manage challenging behaviors among youth.
• Documentation : Maintain accurate records of youth activities, staff schedules, and incident reports.
• Team Collaboration : Work closely with other supervisors and security personnel to ensure a safe environment for both youth and staff.
• Emergency Preparedness : Be prepared to respond to emergencies with less than four hours’ notice when youth require immediate supervision.
