Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Radiation Therapist Discipline : Allied Health Professional Duration : 52 weeks 40 hours per week Shift : 8 hours, days Employment Type : Local Contract Direct Hire Opportunity - Radiation Therapist Location : OSF Saint Mary Medical Center - Galesburg, IL Status : Full-time | Day Shift | No weekends or holidays Compensation & Benefits Sign-On Bonus : $50,000 (with 3-year work commitment) Salary Range : $39.13 - $51.21 / hour Relocation Bonus : Discussed during interview (case-by-case basis) Schedule : Monday-Friday, rotating between 7 : 00 AM-3 : 30 PM and 8 : 00 AM-4 : 30 PM Holidays Off : New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas New Graduates Welcome to Apply! Eligibility Note : Candidates must not have applied directly to OSF within the last two years to be eligible for submission. About the Department Saint Mary Medical Center's Radiation Oncology department is brand new , scheduled to go live on December 11 . Equipped with a mobile Varian Halcyon linear accelerator and mobile CT unit for simulations. Varian will provide on-site training for the Halcyon system. The department includes adjacent clinical space with front desk, exam rooms, and offices. This setup will operate while a new permanent site is designed and built over the next few years. ⚕️ General Job Duties Review patient medical charts for prescriptions, treatment times, and prescribed doses. Confer with physicians to clarify orders and gather prior diagnostic data. Assist the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist in patient simulation, localization procedures, and treatment planning . Fabricate immobilization and custom treatment devices for individual patients. Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and educate them on possible treatment reactions and care instructions. Position patients under radiation equipment with precise accuracy to ensure proper exposure and protection. Observe patients during treatment via CCTV to ensure correct positioning and report any changes in condition. Maintain supply inventory and perform quality control tests on treatment equipment per Medical Physicist guidelines. Enter treatment charges into the computer system (Aria RO). Equipment Utilized CT / Sim Varian Halcyon Linear Accelerator Aria RO for radiation oncology management Epic for parent EMR Qualifications Minimum Experience : 2 years as a Radiation Therapist (new grads considered) Strong understanding of radiation therapy procedures, physics, and patient care techniques. Exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills to communicate effectively and interpret treatment plans accurately. Licensure & Certification ARRT Registered Illinois IEMA Licensure required Dress Code Solid-colored scrub pants (no dragging on the floor). Printed scrub tops permitted if appropriate. Closed-toe, non-vented shoes required in clinical areas. Conservative jewelry, hair, and make-up consistent with professional standards. Tattoos : Allowed if simple, appropriate, and non-offensive. No visible tattoos above shoulders. Facial hair : Must comply with OSHA and CDC fit-testing standards. Nails : Clean, natural, short ( Personal hygiene and fragrances must be moderate and workplace appropriate. Training & Orientation Varian-led Halcyon system training provided.
