Job descriptionPatient care duties include : preparing patients and exam rooms for provider consultation, taking medical history and vitals, scheduling appointments (e.g. lab, x-ray), explaining processes, assisting providers in special procedures (including minor surgery), remove sutures, clean wounds, apply dressings, notify patients of lab results, give shots and immunizations, ongoing patient observation prior to, during, and following administration of treatment. Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by provider. Ensure smooth progression of patient schedule, working with practice team to assure smooth patient flow. Follows HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members. Participates in regulatory compliance and quality management initiatives / activities while maintaining fiscal accountability. Serves as a resource to staff on patient care and clinical policies and procedure issues, and is a liaison between patients, the practice, the hospital and community resources. 1-year clinical experience in a medical / physician office setting preferred Experience with use of electronic medical records preferred.
