Description :
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the health care team.
Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems.
The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response.
The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment.
This role involves assisting patients to transition through the healthcare encounter without any preventable complications or delays.
The RN delegates interventions based on professional nursing standards, each patient's condition, and the competencies of the employee.
This position includes responsibilities in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24 / 7 staffing and on-call duties.
Essential Functions of the Role :
Using clinical reasoning, the RN conducts accurate assessments according to practice standards.
Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs.
Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing plan of care, modifying it to meet clinical outcomes.
Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, supporting evidence-based practice changes.
Creates a compassionate, supportive, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
Develops therapeutic relationships with patients and families while managing emotional and physical pain.
Recognizes and incorporates unique differences, such as culture and spiritual beliefs, into the individualized plan of care.
Preserves and protects the confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families.
Facilitates learning for patients and families and assesses their learning needs and outcomes.
Collaborates with colleagues and the community to develop and implement an integrated plan of care.
Utilizes strategies and available resources for effective problem-solving related to patient care.
Participates in shared governance and decision-making processes, contributing to professional development.
Key Success Factors :
Knowledge of nursing and patient care standards and procedures.
Understanding of laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care.
Knowledge of medical terminology and principles of health promotion and disease prevention.
Effective communication skills for clear verbal and written interaction.
