Description :
Registered Nurses can independently plan and implement routine nursing care in predictable situations using standards and knowledge obtained during education and preceptorship.
RN II positions begin to assume leadership responsibility and require minimal supervision.
An RN II must use accurate, clear, and concise oral and written communication.
RN II positions will work as a team and maintain effective working relationships.
Candidates must use critical thinking skills, analyze, and communicate findings effectively.
Matrix care charting is utilized in the department.
Incumbents require basic computer literacy and the ability to effectively learn new software programs.
Candidates must efficiently operate a variety of automated office equipment such as print / copy / scan / fax machines and calculators.
RNs must have continuous experience in a comparable patient care setting.
RNs must remain in this position for a minimum of one year before applying for advancement.
Candidates must float to one other unit within one year of appointment.
Three years of current clinical experience is required for advancement to RN III, or one year as an RN II.
Candidates are expected to establish a float in at least one primary area within one year of hire.
Education must be from an accredited professional nursing program, with a BSN preferred.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required within 30 days of hire.
The employee will not work alone, and there is no on-call requirement.
Weekends are required on a rotating basis.
The unit is comprised of 61 beds, with 54 currently filled.
The nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1 : 15 to 1 : 21 during the day and 1 : 25 at night.
Staff members are required to wear scrubs.
