Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : ASAP Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with Michigan license, BLS, and NIHSS certification for a neuro-focused unit with night shifts and weekend requirements. Responsibilities Work in a 40-bed Med / Surg unit specializing in neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and post-operative neuro-surgery and ortho-surgery patients Unit includes six step-down / telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit for seizure patients age 5 and up Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00-7 : 30) Use of Epic EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems Floating may be required to other Med / Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms Required to work every other weekend Main responsibilities include caring for a diverse neuro medical-surgical and post-surgical population Must complete required modules during orientation and annually, total of 8 non-billable hours Travelers are first to float within the facility No holiday time off requests are permitted; manager may discuss dates if unit coverage allows Return staff must be separated for at least 6 months before being considered Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions Requirements Active Michigan RN license required Current BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification, or willingness to complete NIHSS prior to start Minimum of 1 year Med / Surg RN experience required; 1-2 years preferred Experience with Epic EMR and Pyxis preferred Submission of flu vaccination documentation or exemption request within 48 hours of contract signing References required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619989.
