Primary Purpose :
Provide a safe, quality Summer day camp program that produces developmentally appropriate, recreational and enrichment-based experiences for the children.
Qualifications : Education / Certification :
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Ability to communicate effectivelyAbility to operate a motor vehicleAbility to safely operate 15 passenger vanAbility to safely lift and carry 50lbs.Experience :
Experience working with school-age children in an after school or summer program
T raining
Must be First Aid and CPR certified (can be trained by SDC).Must participate in the Child Abuse Awareness trainingAttend / Receive the mandatory pre-service training & staff development hours outlined by DFPS minimum standards. (see attached mandatory dates)Receive training & work closely with Community Education Staff (training time TBD)Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Be knowledgeable about and adhere to proper procedures and expectations set forth by the Department of Family Protective Services, the Summer Day Camp handbook, and the school district employee handbookCommunicating openly and interacting professionally and positively with school personnel, parents, and camp staff / directors / office personnelUtilize computer programs, such as PPT, Word, Excel, registration systemPortraying a professional and positive work ethic / environmentAssist with check in by :
Greeting / Welcoming parents and campersChecking in campers (time stamped)Distributing weekly schedulesCalling parents of absent campersObtaining permission for field trips / special activitiesAssisting the site leadership personnel with miscellaneous tasksGenerating & printing documents from the registration systemManaging the following records :Campers :
Field Trip permissionIllness / incident reportsAuthorization for Dispensing MedicationImmunization recordsSwim listsCamper shirtsStaff :
Staff development & training documentationReviewing staff time cardsProof of request for all background checksFirst Aid / CPR certificationAssist with check out by :
Checking out campers (time stamped)ID parentsGetting incident / injury forms signedProviding reminders or information to parentsAnswer phone / returning calls
