Real Estate Finance Supervisor

Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV / AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs , and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position : Real Estate Finance Supervisor (Hybrid Remote)

The Real Estate Finance Supervisor manage general ledger accounting functions and the timely production of accurate internal and external monthly / quarterly operating statements for the partnerships and related entities of VOA-GNY. Support the Controller in property performance analysis; prepare property budgets; annual external audits and funder compliance reporting. Responsible for day-to-day management and supervision of two Senior Real Estate Accountants. Support Controller in the preparation of interim financial statements (monthly and quarterly for Finance Committee) and GAAP Financial Statements and related footnote disclosures.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 5-years low-income real estate experience (development / construction accounting is a plus) with at least 3 years of demonstrative supervisory experience, or satisfactory combination of education and experience.
• Financial accounting expertise in accordance with U.S. GAAP standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate.
• Strong working knowledge of Yardi, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint is required.
• Experienced in writing internal policies and procedures.
